My name is Huong and I am currently a Public Relations student in George Mason University.

• On campus, I am currently the Marketing Director of TEDxGeorgeMasonU where I am responsible for developing marketing ideas to spread the word about the organization, its events, and its main conference. I also write biographies of student speakers and assist in creating flyers and other marketing materials.

•  In addition to my involvement with TEDxGeorgeMasonU, I have been an active member of George Mason’s chapter of PRSSA since March 2016. I have diligently attended bi-weekly meetings and events organized by GMU PRSSA. In Spring 2016 semester, I was awarded “International Member of the Year” by the GMU PRSSA Executive Board.

• Last summer, I worked as an event intern for FACETS, a non-profit organization in Fairfax, Virginia. In this role, I aided in planning and developing marketing strategies for a fundraising event which exceeded goals and attracted nearly 300 guests. I worked closely with my supervisor to plan and write electronic invitations and detailed descriptions of auction items. I also researched additional information about the items to increase bidding. In addition to marketing, I assisted in planning and writing monthly e-newsletters which were sent out to over 5000 contacts. To complete this project in a timely manner, I effectively communicated with many staffs in the organization to collect information.

•  I also volunteer to support Mason community whenever I can. In the Fall 2016 semester, I was a panelist at Mason International Student Orientation, in which I delivered a speech telling new international students about my journey. I also answered questions from students and gave them advice.
